More December happenings...
Updated: Jun 11, 2020
The children enjoyed their music lessons. Here's all the things we have covered so far...
We learned about famous composer, Aaron Copland.
Composers write music.
We learned about different aspects of an orchestra, different musical notes, different tempos including Adagio, Allegro, Andante and Moderato.
Orchestras and different musical instrument families including Strings, Percussion and Brass.
Opera and how the stories are told through songs accompanied by orchestras. A short series of video clips about Madame Butterfly Opera was shown so the children would have a better understanding. Please note, for obvious reasons the plot of the story was NOT discussed. ( I thought they were going to find it funny and laugh/giggle, but they were actually mesmerized!).
We are learning about our State, Pennsylvania and some (Non-historical)fun facts about Pennsylvania including State flower, tree, animal and insect
The children are now learning about the continent of South America.
We discussed how different people around the world celebrate holidays including Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. We learned about Posadas in Mexico and Parrandas in Puerto Rico.
As always children engaged in individual activities and individual lessons.
Spreading cheese on crackers and arranging flowers were popular activities this week!
The children are all so receptive to all the new information given
and so happy to learn new concepts!
