We are still engaging in preliminary lessons in order to help students gain the necessary skills that will help them navigate the classroom and choose activities that will support their learning, development. and build character.
Please remember that we are counting on your partnership in order to help your child feel successful.
If your child arrives to school tired, unmotivated or not receptive to learning, your child will not be very happy. Keep in mind that school is a different setting from home. Children behave differently at school because the expectations and pace are different.
It is important to understand that We will encourage and motivate but we will not force a child to participate.
Our job is to provide each child every single day with opportunities to learn the skills they need in order to become independent, learn skills, develop concentration and self-regulation.
It is also important to understand that most of the Montessori activities take several steps in order to complete. If students are tired, they may become frustrated with the process or unmotivated to choose or complete the activity.
If your child is not getting at least 10 hours of sleep (going to bed just laying down doesn’t count). Your child is not receiving enough sleep, therefore their brains and bodies will struggle throughout their day.
If parents want to see their children thrive and have a positive/happy attitude toward learning, it is essential that children come to school well rested.
Please keep in mind that there is only so much the children can retain, when they are tired and ready to take a nap as soon as they arrive or shortly after.
I can give the lessons but I cannot give them the energy to push through the day. Their rest is essential to gathering and retaining information.
A child with a tired mind/body is more reluctant to choose multi-step activities that will stimulate his/her mind, provide opportunities to develop concentration and help in the development of stamina essential for future learning.
Please help our students get the rest they need in order to be successful.
Thank you for your support!
